The Anatomy of a Search Result
Matt Cutts talks about how Google puts together their search results. Fascinating stuff (for me at least.)

It’s been a to-do list item for several months now, and I finally got to it last night.
I used the Free Google Sitemap generator from enarion.net and while it took some massaging to get just right, it wasn’t all that bad.
One of the reasons I took so long getting it done is it feels like one of those “best practice” sort of things that I personally won’t see all that much benefit from implementing. I already get good search engine traffic and coverage (both trending upward,) so I’m not sure how much this will help me. Still it’s such a strong idea I was basically compelled to do it as I like to sandbox stuff like that here from time to time in order to get a good sense of how they might work in the wild without putting any client (other than myself) in danger.
If you’re interested in this sort of thing and want to know more, check out the aptly named sitemaps.org for plenty of useful information.
Not much this time around as everyone is in hiding, apparently.
I’m going to be doing some UI design and development for my old boss, PK Shiu’s new project Kind Neighbor. I think we first talked about working on it a year and a half ago. Sometimes even the Internet doesn’t move all that fast. Should be fun.
Speaking of moving slow… looking at the About page at search.wikia.com, I’m wondering what all the fuss is about. Sure, Jimbo Wales is involved, and the concept is interesting, but they don’t even have a name for the thing yet.
In thinking about it myself, I’m curious if the end result will look anything like this:
Factbites actually pulls out pertinent quotes on a topic and presents them as part of the search results. Potentially very helpful. Check the link to my Sholay review halfway down the page to see why I even noticed Factbites.
We made it over 20%. Slowly but surely.

Here are the actual numbers (Google docs is awesome)
I’m trying out a new feedburner feed. We’ll see if it matters at all on the RSS end. One thing I do like is the ability to offer people the ability to Subscribe by Email
