Firefox 2 and Internet Explorer 7 Adoption Rates

What a weird week. IE7 moved up just a hair (man they're taking their time getting that thing out the door) and Firefox #2 slipped backwards by a few percentage points. The Firefox thing is less of a concern for me, for obvious reasons. I'm absolutely chomping at the bit to be rid of IE6 and while I knew that the adoption rate would be slower than I'd like, the glacial pace of Microsoft's roll out is killing me. Hurry it up already :)

It's new browser month

And to celebrate the IE team sent the Mozilla team a cake.

I've yet to install FF 2.0. I keep waiting for it to just happen. If it doesn't happen soon, I might have to get proactive and manually install the thing. Get crazy!

While I'm here I might as well mention that I'm still slightly bummed that Raizlabs didn't get the job skinning the interface for Firefox 2.0. My own involvement in the project would have mirrored my involvement in the pitch process (basically drawing icons and maybe doing some XUL work), but even that would have been a lot of fun for me.

Of course, not getting the job meant I could get re-organized out of a job there a month or two later and not even blink an eye. Considering how well that all turned out it that makes not getting the Firefox work almost a positive.
