This makes me feel better about Emmitt Smith and Sweetness' record
Not that I don't like or respect Emmitt as an athlete or anything. I wasn't planning to get all pissed off about it or anything
It's just that Payton was, well… Payton… Anyway, check this out- It's pretty cool: Jarrett & Emmitt: A friendship Walter Payton planned
I read Ralph Wiley.
Wiley goes off on a regular basis. He's insightful, articulate and all- too- happy to point out the uncomfortable truths in sports. All that's great, but this week he knocked me on my ass since he dropped a brilliant Dune reference in the middle of today's article. Great stuff.
Go simmons, Go.
The Sports Guy goes right after one of the cheesiest moves in recent memory in: Denial must be one of the Three Rivers
It's real. I can't believe it, but it's real.
The "patsies" are gone forever. There's a long article on ESPN.com totally dedicated to figuring out how to beat the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. It's true. There are quotes from scouts and coaches around the league all offering up theories on how to beat the Pats because it's something the entire league is thinking about… That's awesome.
It's been 16 years since I've experienced this
A Boston team won a major professional sports championship-
I really have no idea how to react. I spent the first few minutes after the game winner just laughing at the insanity of it all- the craziness of the whole season.
I do know one thing- Tom Brady owns this town right now.
I wish I was making this up
Terry Glenn is suing the NFL under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Turns out he's got Chronic Depression and that's covered. The lawsuit says, "Glenn has suffered from lost employment, pain, suffering, humiliation, embarrassment and damage to reputation." It's the last one that gets me. "Damage to Reputation" Suing for damage to Terry Glenn's reputation is like a porn star suing to get her virginity back. The damage has been done, bro.
And to think, the Patriots were nine point underdogs
Too bad the Steelers believed the hype. Great quote- "'All week, all they wanted to talk about was their defense, their receivers and their place in history,' New England linebacker Ted Bruschi said of the nine-point favorites. 'Well guess what? Their place in history is losing to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game and going home. '"
