White House aide takes some blame

White House aide takes some blame
An especially nasty note at the end is the accusation that the White House "deliberately leaked [retired diplomat, Joseph Wilson's] wife's identity as a covert CIA operative, damaging her career and compromising past missions, after he criticized the administration on NBC's 'Meet the Press' and in The New York Times."

Credibility Gap

Democrat Kerry says Bush has credibility gap
"'And with each passing day, Americans are learning that we also face an intelligence gap. Americans should be able to trust that what the president tells them is true,' the four-term Massachusetts senator said."

Sounds fair to me.

Although, remember, what the President said was "technically true."

While we're on this, didn't he also claim that Iraq's presumably vast WMD stockpiles were ready to be deployed within 45 minutes? Am I imagining that?

And no, I won't take the bait and make a joke about Bush's "Intelligence Gap." Too freakin' easy!

Intelligence indeed.

Key findings of Parliamentary report on Iraq intelligence
"It appears likely that there was only limited access to reliable human intelligence in Iraq, and that as a consequence the United Kingdom may have been heavily reliant on U.S. technical intelligence, on defectors and on exiles with an agenda of their own."

Cool. Passing the buck is fun.

6 U.S. troops wounded in Iraq

6 U.S. troops wounded in Iraq
"Six American soldiers were wounded in three separate attacks in Iraq on Tuesday and a massive explosion in a mosque in the troubled town of Fallujah reportedly killed several Iraqis. As the country appeared to simmer with anti-American sentiment, the chief U.S. administrator in Iraq sought to deflect criticism that opposition to the U.S.-led occupation was on the rise."

How can anyone even try to say that opposition ISN'T on the rise. In the days following the "end of the war" there was very little activity of this nature. In the past month it seems like there has been an endless stream of U.S. casualties and countless incidents.

Illegal faxes?

Not that it's the biggest deal ever, but apparently the Dept. of Homeland Security is sending faxes without the necessary legally mandated identifying information. We're Not Making This Up: You can't talk back to the Office of Homeland Security

Wow. Shocker.

U.N. terror committee finds no evidence linking Iraq to al-Qaida
Big surprise there. Anyone who bought that connection doesn't really know anything about the dynamics involved. The only thing Saddam and Al Qaeda have in common is a dislike for the U.S., other than that they're pretty much enemies.

Televised debates?

British lawmakers start inquiry into intelligence on Iraq's weapons
The Brits are having TELEVISED DEBATES on this subject. We, on the other hand, are apparently still snowed or are we just beaten down by fear-mongering to the point of total subservience to the President?

Fat Tax

Let's Hear It For a Fat Tax
Tax Twinkies! Tax Doritos! Tax Hostess Cup Cakes (mmm… Hostess Cup Cakes!) Tax all that shit! Down with the now stereotypical American Fatty Boombalatty! We're a country full of fat, slovenly, lazy, disgusting lumpy couch potatoes and we're not getting any better. Maybe this will help. I doubt it.

It's a good thing President Bush had that photo op where he declared the war over.

Otherwise I might think there was still work to be done in Iraq and that our troops were still in danger.

U.S. troops kill 27 Iraqi attackers

Am I missing something?

Ex-Saddam media man says Iraq had no banned arms
Isn't this odd reporting? The guy who's quoted wouldn't necessarily know a goddamned thing about what sort of DubEmDees the Iraqis had, would he? The guy was a reporter in Iraq. From my understanding homeboy would pretty much be writing what he was told to write. So why would he know a damned thing about anything of value. Am I missing something?
