I'm Going to Be Painting a Mural For The 2010 City Year Boston Serve-a-thon

More info as I get it, but today I finalized plans to do some live painting of a (temporary) mural on Boston City Hill Plaza this May 22nd.

Here's some general info about the event:

Boston Serve-a-thon

On Saturday, May 22, 2010 join City Year Boston for the 21st Annual Serve-a-thon Fundraiser presented by MFS Investment Management®.

The City Year Serve-a-thon is much like your typical walk-a-thon fundraiser, but with a twist! Instead of walking for a cause, participants in the Serve-a-thon fundraiser spend the day doing community service to directly transform neighborhoods.

All funds raised from this event will go to support the City Year Boston young leaders who make a difference in the lives of children during their year of service through literacy tutoring, mentoring, after-school activities, school vacation programs and community service projects.

A $30 volunteer participation fee covers:

* service supplies
* transportation for the day
* event t-shirt
* breakfast at the Kick-off provided by Gourmet Lauren
* lunch provided by Gourmet Lauren
* dinner at closing celebration provided by Qdoba and Pollo Campero
* entertainment at closing celebration (featuring a band, raffle, and media show with pictures from the day)

Schedule of the day:
8:30 am Breakfast and Registration opens
9:30 am Program begins
10:20 am Buses depart for service sites
11:15 am Welcome remarks delivered on site
11:30 am Service begins
3:45 pm Buses depart for City Hall Plaza
4:15 pm City Hall Plaza Closing Celebration begins
6:30 pm Closing Celebration concludes

I'll be starting my work at 8:30 with a team and will hopefully be done by the time everyone returns at 4:15. Should be a lot of fun.

    I definitely will. I'll likely do a time lapse of the wall and then put together some photos of the overall event. I'm really excited.
