Breaking News! I Bought Red and Blue Ink!

Seriously, that's what counts for news around here now. It is kind of fun to use different colored inks though, so for me it is a big deal.

One thing that I noticed is the blue ink stays tacky even a full day after laying it down on the paper. Which made for a few smudges ("happy accidents") that ended up changing the direction of the page. Considering the intent of this style, things like that are par for the course and are to be both expected and encouraged.

I'm still going to be a little more careful with the blue ink going forward :)

Why? Oh, No Reason.

Books 2010 #2 Shutter Island

All of the Dennis Lehane books I've read have been like crack to me. Three times in the last year I've stayed up way too late trying to finish one of his books. The only reason it's not five (the number of books of his that I've read in the past year) is that the timing on the other two was more beneficial to my productivity the next day.

I finished both on the weekend, in the afternoon.

Shutter Island was #3 on that list. I think I slept about 2 hours the night I finished this book.

So, yeah, I liked it.

Happy Friday

I haven't posed a drawing of any sort here for far to long.

Oh look! Here's one now!

Movies 2010 #7 The Last Station

How far behind am I on movie reviews? I saw The Last Station around Valentine's Day.

sigh

Anyway, this was a surprisingly good Valentine's day film. Surprising because it's about the last days of Leo Tolstoy and why on earth should a film about the end of Tolstoy's life be a good Valentine's day film?

It is.

It's a well acted, well written, and deservedly complicated story of personal love, public personae and the legacy of one of the greatest writers the world has ever known.
