Happy (Belated) Birthday H.P. Lovecraft- Cthulhu fhtagn

Thanks to @HP_Lovecraft I was reminded that yesterday, August 20th, was Howard Phillips Lovecraft's birthday. In honor of that I sat down last night to do this sketch of Cthulhu:

Cthulhu

Maybe I'll make a week of it around here? A sketch journey through the Lovecraft mythology. That could be fun.

Itching. Like Poison Ivy Style.

Itching to paint that is. I'm going to have to make the rounds of all my washed-up, retired, has-been friends to see who wants to go show these whipper-snappers how it's done.

Which, of course, reminds me of Richie Seen:

"I'd rather be a has-been than a never-was"

Anyway, here's another outline I could paint in like 45 minutes.

Usain Bolt is Really Fast. Check Out The Video. (AND There's a Sketch in Here Somewhere.)

Since I'm watching the World Track and Field Championships, this sketch is on-theme:

And seriously, Bolt is fast. I was pulling for Tyson Gay, but Bolt is just unreal. Here's hoping the rest of the week is as exciting as Sunday night was.

I Forgot to Post This Piece This Morning.

Better late than never.

It says THUMP.

Why? I don't know.

Books 2009 #10 Even Faster Web Sites

I reviewed it over at HTML + CSS + JavaScript

I finally finished reading Even Faster Web Sites. It’s good, but in terms of things for my day to day, it’s kind of a mixed bag. In some ways (specifically in the areas of JavaScript efficiency, image compression and CSS selectors) it’s more practical than High Performance Web Sites and in others I had a hard time coming up with a concrete example that I’d actually run across that would be served by the topic at hand.

Check it out…
