Books 2009 #6 Prayers for Rain

And with Prayers for Rain my romp through these Dennis Lehane novels ends. I've still got Mystic River and Shutter Island to go, but this is it for the Kenzie/Gennaro stories. I'll miss them. It's not quite the same feeling as when I read the last of the Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories, but it's still a little bit of an empty feeling knowing there's not another one on the nightstand to devour.

Books 2009 #5 Sacred

Sacred, while still very good, was my least favorite of the Kenzie/Gennaro novels. I hate to be a complete homer, but I suspect a a good part of that is because it wasn't solely based in Boston. While I'm actually familiar with the area in Florida it features, that doesn't present the same allure as the other novels that really revolve around this area.

That said, this was still a good read, (one that I took out in about two days) so I can't really complain. It's a crazy story with some fun twists, so it definitely functioned as advertised, I just missed peeking into the grungiest corners of our fair city.

Internet Explorer 8 Released

Much to digest, and I haven't even downloaded it yet, so the best thing I've seen so far is this viral ad they're running to support the launch:

They've got a whole youtube channel set up. It's funny stuff.

Beyond that, as I announced on Twitter today, I'm no longer supporting IE6 for future development. Obviously at work I'll have to support whatever I'll have to support, but on my own projects I'll be ignoring IE6 completely from here on in and I couldn't be happier.

Congrats to the IE team.

More Video Shenanigans
