Bagged and Tagged

Tonight I launched a new site (more on that later.) Of the several interesting technical challenges, the one I'm almost most proud of is having properly used Subversion throughout the process. I branched for development, successfully merged the branch back into trunk and then tagged the release. I know for some of you that's not a big deal, but for me that's almost like doing alchemy. Business like that is always someone else's problem and the only SVN commands I need to pay attention to are those relating to the day-to-day basics- commit, update, revert and the dreaded conflict resolution. Making all of that work without destroying something was a little nerve-wracking, but fun, in a geeky way.

I just wanted to share.

Right Around the Corner

I've been quiet. Almost too quiet. There's a good reason for that. Actually, there are two good reasons. One, I'm busy as hell with work.

I know, I know. Work is boring. You folks want wild drawings, nonsensical rambling about obscure cinema and lengthy technical articles about front end web technologies (really, is there anyone in the world other than me that actually wants all three of those things?) Work is simply not that cool. Of course, it does pay the bills, so work wins right now.

The other part is that my spare (hah!) time is being spent a very special relaunch. That project is now looking like it might go live this week. I've got a bunch of configuration work to do (I'm thinking it'll get a 95+ YSlow score) and some content to write, but for the most part the heavy lifting is done, so I'm hoping to flip the switch soon. I'm hoping people like it.

Fingers crossed.

Lee Quinones On the Net

Whole car legend and graffiti pioneer Lee Quinones, launched his web site. The site is full of images and serves as a great introduction (if you need one) to one of the all-time style pioneers. For folks familiar with his work, it's still worth a click as there are many images I've never seen before.

While We've Got the Wayback Machine Set-up…

Here's a video my friend Yakov Caplan shot for the band Only Living Witness back in 1992. I was around for one of the days of shooting. In Chelsea? It was a wild time for us. Very creative. There was always something going on. Of course I was dirt poor at the time, and even now I always have something going on, but I did have a grand time creatively back then.

Some choice graffiti (and several graffiti writers) are visible throughout…

Every Deck I Skated Between 12/85 and 7/88

I actually put together a hand written list (20+ years ago) of all the decks I'd skated until that point. Now I'm sharing it with you.

Thanks to some fine folks over at flickr, I've also got some visual reference:
