Another discovery off of the World Cafe. Channeling Bob Dylan and The Band is an easy in into my collection.
The National, "Fake Empire"
This might be the greatest song ever written. Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but I've continually been drawn to this song since it came out last year. It goes away for a month or two and then it'll pop up on shuffle and I end up listening to it 20 times in a day. There's something about the lyrics and the soundscape that absolutely tugs at my guts.
