Sketch- some statue somewhere….

Which statue? Michelangelo’s David at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence.

I drew it three times in about 30 minutes. This is one of those drawings.

I’m psyched about the scanner. I a ton to catch up on- drawings I did in Italy, a few other outlines, etc.

Rod Stewart’s Model Railroad Set Appears on Cover of Model Railroader- Fulfills Lifelong Ambition

I’m posting this completely non-ironically. I think it’s massively cool that Rod Stewart, of all people, has created one of the “best train sets” the unnamed experts in the Daily Record article have ever seen.

I’m not an expert, but it looks pretty cool to me.

Sketch-er-iffic? Something like that.

I’m glad to have my scanner back :)

Tour de France Route Revealed

23 July: stage 17 - Embrun - L’Alpe-d’Huez, 210 km

Uh, boss. I need Wednesday July 23, 2008 off.

They also did away with time bonuses and scrapped the opening prologue. Which makes the race for the first yellow jersey all the more interesting…. In some ways it’s a bummer since George Hincapie is the kind of guy who can win one of those prologues and I’d love to see him get another maillot jaune before he hangs it up, but it will make for an exciting day of racing, so I’ll take it.

Tour de France given 2008 revamp

Sketch- REACT- My Scanner is Working Again.

This one is actually pretty old. It was done right before I realized my scanner wouldn’t work with Vista. It now does work with Vista so I can go back to posting some sketch stuff.

*speaking of which- yes, I’m posting while the Red Sox are playing in the World Series. Why? Have you seen the score?

Leipheimer to Astana official. l’Alpe d’Huez in 2008 Tour?

Levi Leipheimer’s move to Astana is now official and he will join ex-Discovery Channel team manager Johan Bruyneel and Tour de France winner Alberto Contador at the new-look Astana team for 2008.

Wednesday’s EuroFile: Leipheimer heads to Astana; Tour heads to Italy

VeloNews is also reporting that the Tour will both stop in Italy and include l’Alpe d’Huez. If l’Alpe d’Huez is included in the route, and it’s not on a Saturday or Sunday, I’m literally putting in a request tomorrow for the day off come next July. Those are fun mornings- get up at six, park myself on the couch with coffee and lounge my way through 5 hours of pure madness on the slopes of the Alps.

I’m teaching a graffiti class tonight…

For some students at Northeastern.

Basically it’s “How to tag.”

I swear.

Here’s the first page of my handout.

I’m twittering Game 7

For the time being at least:

Twitter / rob_react

(I’m home watching the game alone and IMing with my girfriend who is lucky enough to be at the game, so I figure I might try twittering a live event. Just to see what the stream looks like when/if I give up.)

[edited to add]

And I never gave up. That was fun for me and now I’ve got a fine little log of my thoughts.

The Absolute Poker Cheating Scandal

I spent some time yesterday catching up on this story. This is a little easier to link to than the forum posts I had to read yesterday to get the scoop on this fascinating story.

(link via Schneier on Security)

A few weeks back I blogged about allegations of cheating at an online poker site called Absolute Poker. While things looked awfully suspicious, there wasn’t quite a smoking gun, and it was unclear exactly how the cheater might have cheated.

A combination of some incredible detective work by some poker players and an accidental (?) data leak by Absolute Poker have blown the scandal wide open.

You can read the first-hand account in the following thread at 2 2 Poker Forum, but here’s the short version:
